Harney & Sons English Breakfast Loose Leaf Black Tea, 16 oz — Keemun Single-Origin, Smooth Malty Cup

This English Breakfast blend follows the original idea of a robust, dependable morning tea: a single-origin Chinese black tea chosen for flavor and versatility. Harney & Sons selected Keemun leaves to recreate that historic profile—brisk enough to pair with milk and sugar, yet refined and balanced for everyday drinking. The 16 oz bag supplies a generous amount of loose leaf tea, ideal for home brewing, office kettles, or small-batch iced tea.

What flavor profile should I expect from Keemun English Breakfast?

The cup presents a smooth, malty backbone with mild fruity and floral notes typical of Keemun. It is less astringent than some Assam-based breakfasts, offering a round finish that stands up to milk without overwhelming it.

• Primary taste: malty and smooth with subtle fruit and floral hints.
• Body: medium to full-bodied, suitable for milk and sugar.
• Aroma: gentle cocoa and light dried fruit scents.
• Aftertaste: clean, slightly sweet finish.

How do I brew Harney & Sons English Breakfast for best results?

Use freshly boiled water and adjust leaf quantity to taste—Keemun brews well with slightly cooler boiling water to preserve delicate notes. Steep times and ratios determine strength, so start with recommended measures and tweak for your preferred strength or iced preparations.

• Standard cup: 1 teaspoon per 8 oz water, 3–4 minutes at 200–212°F (93–100°C).
• Stronger cup or iced tea: 1.5–2 teaspoons per 8 oz, steep 4–5 minutes or cold-brew overnight.
• For milk tea: brew slightly stronger to retain flavor after adding milk.
• Reinfuse: Keemun may yield a milder second steep—extend steep time by 30–60 seconds.

How much tea does the 16 oz bag make and how should I store it?

The one-pound loose leaf bag makes roughly 120–160 cups depending on how strong you brew each serving. Store the tea in a cool, dry, airtight container away from light and strong odors to preserve freshness and aromatic character.

• Yield: approx. 120–160 cups at standard strength; more if brewed weakly.
• Storage: airtight tin or opaque container, away from heat and moisture.
• Shelf: best consumed within 12–18 months for peak flavor.
• Portions: scoop with a dry spoon to avoid introducing moisture.

Harney & Sons has brewed and blended teas since 1983 and supports environmental causes through its 1% for the Planet membership.
