hand2mind Feelings Family Hand Puppets Set of 5 — Small-Hand Soft Sensory Emotion Tools

Five soft hand puppets that personify Happy, Angry, Surprised, Sad, and Scared to help children name, act out, and reflect on feelings through play.

The hand2mind Feelings Family Hand Puppets set offers a tactile, playful way for young children to explore emotions. Each puppet is sized for small hands and designed with distinct facial expressions, body language, and gentle textures to make emotional cues easier to notice. These puppets work well in classrooms, therapy spaces, or at home to support social-emotional learning without relying on lengthy instruction.

How do these puppets teach children about emotions?

The puppets let kids embody characters and practice identifying feelings through role-play. Moving heads, arms, and fingers helps children link facial expressions and body posture to emotion words, expanding their vocabulary and observational skills.

• Five clear emotion characters: Happy, Angry, Surprised, Sad, Scared.
• Small-hand sizing encourages independent manipulation and expression.
• Encourages naming feelings, describing cues, and storytelling.

What sensory features make them useful for calm-down corners?

Soft fabrics, subtle stuffing, and light crinkle details add sensory input that can soothe or engage a child. The combination of touch, sound, and visual cues helps children focus on emotional differences without overwhelming stimulation.

• Soft, kid-friendly textures invite touch and gentle handling.
• Quiet crinkle elements provide calming auditory feedback.
• Distinct facial features and postures make emotions easier to read.

How can teachers and therapists use the puppets during sessions?

Professionals can use the puppets to model language, rehearse coping strategies, or role-play social situations. The puppets reduce pressure on children by giving them a playful intermediary for discussing difficult topics and practicing empathy.

• Prompting: use one puppet to ask questions while another responds.
• Rehearsal: practice calming scripts and problem-solving through scenarios.
• Group work: rotate puppets for turn-taking and perspective-taking exercises.

Are these puppets convenient for home and travel use?

The lightweight, flexible design makes the puppets easy to pack and bring along for car rides, visits, or outings. Their simple operation—thumbs and pinkies move arms while fingers move heads—lets caregivers and kids quickly incorporate them into routines and storytime.

• Compact size fits backpacks or classroom bins.
• Durable fabric stands up to regular handling and play.
• Works alone or paired with books and calm-down tools for consistent practice.
