GLACIER FRESH Garden Hose Pre-Filter for Pools & Spas 1-Pack — Coconut Shell Carbon, Tool-Free Screw-On

GLACIER FRESH Garden Hose Filter Pre-Filter is a screw-on activated carbon hose filter designed to remove chlorine, odors, and fine particles when filling pools, spas, and hot tubs.

This compact, tool-free pre-filter attaches to any standard garden hose and uses coconut-shell activated carbon to reduce chlorine taste and odors while trapping suspended particles. Built for routine pool and spa top-offs, car rinses, and backyard inflatables, the unit helps deliver clearer-feeling water straight from your outdoor spigot without complicated plumbing or cartridges.

How does this filter improve water when I fill my pool or spa?

The GLACIER FRESH pre-filter adsorbs free chlorine and common odor-causing compounds while physically filtering out microparticles. That dual action leads to reduced chemical smell and fewer visible particulates entering your water. It’s intended for pre-treatment, not as a substitute for full pool sanitation systems.

• Coconut shell activated carbon removes chlorine and odor molecules.
• Inner media traps suspended solids and fine sediment.
• Up to 8,000 gallons of effective service per filter under typical use.

Is installation difficult and how do I use it?

Installation is quick and tool-free: simply screw the filter onto any standard garden hose fitting. Run the hose for about 30 seconds initially to flush the media, then direct the filtered flow into your pool, tub, or spa. No special adapters are usually required for residential spigots.

• Hand-tighten to standard hose threads; no plumber needed.
• Flush for 30 seconds before filling to clear dust from the media.
• Replace after media capacity is reached or you notice diminished performance.

What maintenance and lifespan should I expect?

The activated carbon media is rated for roughly 8,000 gallons under normal conditions; actual life depends on incoming water quality and frequency of use. Once the media is exhausted, you’ll notice less odor removal and reduced clarity benefits, signaling it’s time for replacement. The unit itself is disposable after media life ends unless the brand offers a refill option.

• Rated up to 8,000 gallons — varies with source water chemistry.
• Monitor performance; replace when chlorine or odors return.
• Simple swap or replacement keeps maintenance minimal.

Where can I use this filter around my home?

This pre-filter is versatile enough for many outdoor water tasks: topping off pools and hot tubs, filling inflatable kiddie pools, car washing, and light pre-filtering for garden tasks where taste or odor matters. It’s not a certified drinking-water purifier, so avoid relying on it for long-term potable water treatment without additional certified systems.

• Pool, spa, and hot tub filling to reduce chlorine taste and particles.
• Inflatable and kiddie pool fills for clearer-looking water.
• Car washes and rinses where softer-feeling water is preferred.

Who is this for? The GLACIER FRESH Garden Hose Filter Pre-Filter is aimed at homeowners and renters who want a fast, inexpensive way to reduce chlorine smell and visible particulates when filling or topping outdoor water features. It suits anyone seeking tool-free installation and straightforward maintenance for better-smelling, less-cloudy water during seasonal pool, spa, or inflatable use. If you need long-term potable water treatment or certified pathogen removal, combine this pre-filter with appropriate certified systems.
