GE 40 ft Outdoor Extension Cord — 16AWG Grounded Heavy-Duty, Green PVC Jacket, Weather-Resistant

The GE 40-foot grounded heavy-duty extension cord delivers reliable indoor and outdoor power with a durable 16AWG jacket, a molded three-prong plug, and weather-resistant construction.

When outlets sit out of reach, this GE extension cord gives you the extra length and ruggedness needed for seasonal displays, workshop projects, lawn equipment and everyday household electronics. Built with 16-gauge wire, double insulation and a one-piece molded plug, it balances flexibility with toughness so you can route power across yards, garages and jobsite perimeters without constantly wrestling a flimsy cord.

How robust is this cord for outdoor tasks?

The cord features a heavy-duty PVC jacket and double insulation to resist moisture, abrasion, dust and temperature swings common outdoors. ETL listing indicates it meets recognized safety standards for residential outdoor use, and the molded plug improves strain relief where cords usually fail.

• 16AWG, three-conductor design rated 125VAC/13A/1625W for common tools and appliances
• PVC jacket resists cracking and abrasion from yard and workshop hazards
• One-piece molded plug reduces stress at the connection point
• ETL-listed for safety confidence in household outdoor applications

What can I safely power with a 16AWG 40ft extension cord?

This 16AWG cord is suitable for light- to moderate-load devices: cordless charger bases, string lights, power tools like sanders or drills used intermittently, and small outdoor equipment. It’s not intended for continuous, high-amp appliances such as space heaters or large air compressors.

• Seasonal lighting and holiday décor without overstressing the cord
• Workshop tools and small power tools for brief or intermittent use
• Lawn equipment with moderate current draw (always check tool ratings)
• General household electronics when outlets are distant

How easy is this cord to handle and store?

The 40-foot length provides generous reach while the 16-gauge construction keeps the cable flexible enough to coil and uncoil with minimal kinking. Its low-profile green finish helps it blend into landscaping or workshop backdrops, making temporary runs less obtrusive.

• Flexible 16AWG conductor for easier routing and coiling
• Low-profile green color reduces visual impact in yards and gardens
• Molded plug simplifies insertion and removal from outlets
• Length allows single-cord runs instead of multiple couplers

What safety features should I be aware of?

Safety-focused design elements include the grounded three-prong outlet, double insulation, sturdy PVC jacket and ETL certification. These features collectively reduce shock and fire risk when used according to the cord’s 125VAC/13A/1625W rating and intended applications.

• Grounded three-prong configuration for devices with safety grounding
• Double insulation and durable jacket protect conductors from damage
• ETL listing shows compliance with recognized safety standards
• Follow device wattage and amperage limits to avoid overloading

Who is this for? Homeowners, hobbyists and light-duty pros who need dependable, weather-resistant power beyond a nearby outlet will find this GE 40ft extension cord useful. It’s designed for seasonal lighting, routine yard work, garage projects and workshop tasks where a flexible, grounded cord with solid strain relief and proven safety certification is required. If you need continuous heavy current for large appliances, choose a cord with a heavier gauge; for routine residential and moderate outdoor needs, this GE cord offers a practical balance of reach, durability and safety.
