FKRO Organic Okumidori is a stone-ground, ceremonial-grade matcha powder from a single-cultivar family farm in Kagoshima, Japan — vivid jade color, smooth umami, and USDA/JAS organic certified.
Harvested on a small, family-run mountain farm that has practiced organic cultivation since 1954, this Okumidori ceremonial matcha is shade-grown, hand-picked, and stone-milled in small batches to preserve aroma and texture. The powder arrives in a resealable 30 g tin, air-flown monthly from Japan to retain freshness and showcase the cultivar’s natural sweetness and low bitterness.
Okumidori is a late-maturing cultivar prized for a velvety mouthfeel and a savory umami profile rather than aggressive astringency. Because it develops sugars and amino acids slowly, it produces a mellow, rounded cup whether whisked traditionally or used in recipes.
The tea is shaded for about three weeks before the spring harvest, which concentrates chlorophyll and amino acids. Leaves are hand-picked, then slowly milled on granite stones in small lots to achieve a fine, airy powder without overheating or oxidizing the leaf.
For a traditional usucha, sift 1–2 g into a bowl, add about 60–80 ml of water at roughly 75–80°C, and whisk until frothy. The resealable 30 g tin holds about 15 servings; keep it sealed in a cool, dry place and use within a few months after opening for the best flavor.
This matcha carries USDA and JAS organic certifications, confirming organic practices both in the U.S. and Japan. The product is stone-ground, single-cultivar, and comes from a long-running family farm that manages small-batch processing to maintain consistent quality.
Who is this for: FKRO Organic Okumidori ceremonial matcha suits tea enthusiasts and home baristas who value single-cultivar clarity, a smooth umami-forward profile, and traditional stone-ground texture. It’s also a good pick for cooks and bakers seeking high-quality, additive-free matcha for lattes, smoothies, and confections, and for anyone who prefers certified organic tea sourced directly from a responsible family farm.
