Filtrete 20x25x4 Air Filter 2-Pack — MERV 12 (MPR 1550), 4-inch Pleated Electrostatic for Furnaces & AC

This Filtrete filter from 3M pairs a MERV 12 rating with an MPR 1550 score to balance strong particle capture and steady air flow for residential HVAC systems. Built with Filtrete's multi-layer electrostatic media, the 4-inch depth provides extended dust-holding capacity so the filter can run effectively for up to 12 months in typical home installations. The product is certified asthma & allergy friendly and fits systems that accept a 4.31-inch thickness, including media cleaners from compatible brands.

How does this filter perform compared with standard furnace filters?

This Filtrete model captures a broad range of particle sizes while maintaining airflow suitable for most residential furnaces and air conditioners. Its electrostatic pleats are engineered to attract and hold smaller particles that ordinary fiberglass filters miss, improving indoor air quality without major system strain.

• MPR 1550 targets fine particles such as smoke and microscopic allergens.
• MERV 12 indicates strong efficiency for particles down to about 0.3–1.0 microns.
• 4-inch pleated depth increases dust capacity compared with thinner filters.
• Designed for year-long use under typical household conditions.

Will this Filtrete filter fit my HVAC, Honeywell, or AprilAire system?

The stated actual dimensions are 19.88 x 24.63 x 4.31 inches; check your existing filter slot to ensure clearance for the slightly oversized thickness. It’s compatible with many furnaces, air handlers, and select Honeywell or AprilAire media cleaner housings that accept similar 4-inch media.

• Actual size listed to avoid confusion with nominal sizing.
• Fits systems calling for 4.31" or larger filter depth.
• Compatible with many Honeywell and AprilAire Space-Gard model media cleaners.
• Residential use recommended; verify manufacturer guidance for your unit.

How often should I replace the Filtrete 4-inch filter and how do I remember?

Filtrete recommends replacing this 4-inch filter at least once every 12 months for optimal HVAC performance under normal residential use, though higher dust loads or pets may require more frequent changes. Use the Filtrete Smart App reminders to schedule replacement intervals that match your home’s conditions.

• Standard guidance: change every 12 months under typical conditions.
• Consider 90- or 180-day swaps in high-dust or multi-pet homes.
• Filtrete Smart App offers 90/180/365-day reminder options.
• Inspect monthly during extreme seasons to avoid airflow restriction.

What types of particles does the filter capture and what certifications does it hold?

This filter is built to trap both large and many small airborne particles—everything from lint and pollen to finer particulates like smoke and some microbes that carry viruses. Filtrete’s technology and independent certification make it suitable for households prioritizing reduced allergen exposure.

• Captures large particles such as dust, lint and pollen.
• Designed to remove a portion of smaller particles including smoke and fine aerosols.
• Certified asthma & allergy friendly for residential use.
• Performance based on standardized HVAC efficiency testing methods.

Who this is for: Homeowners wanting a higher-efficiency, long-life replacement filter for their furnace or central air system that balances strong particle removal with sustained airflow. It’s especially suited to households with seasonal allergies, pets, or urban pollution concerns, and to anyone using Honeywell or AprilAire media housings that accept 4-inch depth filters.
