Filtrete 20x20x1 Air Filter 2-Pack — MPR 2800 (MERV 14) High-Efficiency Pleated HVAC Filters

Filtrete 20x20x1 MPR 2800 (MERV 14) air filters are high-efficiency 1-inch pleated HVAC filters sold as a 2-pack designed to capture a wide range of fine and large airborne particles while allowing proper airflow through your furnace or air conditioner.

These Filtrete filters from 3M use the brand’s 3-in-1 media technology and a high MPR 2800 rating (equivalent to MERV 14) to pull particles from household air. They are intended for routine replacement every 90 days in typical residential furnace, air conditioner or HVAC systems. Performance data from industry-standard testing shows strong capture of small particles and improved removal of common indoor contaminants compared with basic fiberglass filters.

How effective is this filter against small particles like smoke and pet dander?

The Filtrete MPR 2800 pleated media is engineered to capture a high percentage of microparticles that pass through the filter. Under ASHRAE 52.2 testing conditions, it removes a significant share of 0.3 to 1 micron particles, which represent many smoke and fine allergen particles. That higher capture rate helps reduce the airborne load of fine particulates between routine filter changes.

• MPR 2800 corresponds to an approximate MERV 14 performance level.
• Tested to capture a large share of 0.3–1.0 micron particles in standard industry tests.
• Designed to trap smoke, fine dust, pet dander and other small particulates.

Will this filter fit my HVAC system and how often should I change it?

This product is a 20x20x1-inch pleated filter intended for furnaces, air conditioners and most residential HVAC housings that accept 1-inch filters. Filtrete recommends replacing 1-inch filters at least every 90 days for typical home use; systems with pets or higher particulate loads may need more frequent changes. Always check your HVAC manufacturer’s guidance for filter type and replacement intervals.

• Size: 20 x 20 x 1 inches — fits standard 1" filter slots.
• Pack: includes two 1-inch pleated filters for successive changes.
• Replacement frequency: at minimum every 90 days for normal conditions.

Does the filter impact airflow or system performance?

Filtrete pleated media is designed to balance particle capture with airflow so your HVAC system continues to move conditioned air efficiently. Compared with basic fiberglass or washable filters, pleated high-MPR media typically provides better filtration while remaining compatible with common residential blowers. For optimal HVAC efficiency, follow the recommended replacement schedule and confirm the filter is installed in the correct airflow direction.

• Pleated design offers greater surface area for capture without excessive restriction.
• Use as directed to maintain system airflow and avoid strain on the blower.
• Replace regularly to prevent buildup that can reduce performance.

What kinds of particles and allergens does this Filtrete filter capture?

The MPR 2800 media targets a broad range of airborne contaminants from large to very small. It captures large particles such as lint, pollen and household dust, and is also tested to remove a substantial portion of finer particles that can carry biological material and smoke. The filter is certified as asthma & allergy friendly under an independent report, reflecting its suitability for households managing airborne triggers.

• Large particles: lint, pollen, dust and visible debris.
• Fine particles: smoke, pet dander and many submicron particulates.
• Certified as asthma & allergy friendly in an independent report.

Who is this for: The Filtrete 20x20x1 MPR 2800 (MERV 14) 2-pack is for homeowners and renters who want higher-efficiency 1-inch HVAC filtration without changing system hardware. It suits households with pets, seasonal allergies or concerns about fine indoor particles, and anyone who wants a straightforward, periodically replaced filter that outperforms basic fiberglass or washable options. If your system requires a different thickness or you need longer-change intervals, Filtrete also offers multiple MPR and depth options.
