Filtrete 16x20x1 Air Filter MPR 300 (MERV 5) 6-Pack — 1" Pleated Electrostatic for Dust & Pollen

Filtrete 16x20x1 MPR 300 (MERV 5) is a 6-pack of 1" pleated electrostatic HVAC filters designed to trap household dust, lint and pollen while letting air flow efficiently through furnace and A/C systems.

This six-count set of Filtrete 16x20x1 filters uses electrostatically charged pleated media to attract and hold large airborne particles on each pass through your heating and cooling system. With a 300 Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR) and MERV 5 rating, these filters are built for routine home use—offering a noticeable reduction in visible dust and helping keep HVAC components cleaner between maintenance intervals. They’re intended as a cost-effective, three-month replacement option for standard residential systems that accept 1-inch filters.

How do these filters actually capture dust and pollen?

The Filtrete MPR 300 filter relies on charged fibers that act like tiny magnets for airborne particles. Electrostatic attraction pulls in both positively and negatively charged particles, increasing capture efficiency for lint, pet dander and pollen compared with plain fiberglass or washable filters.

• Electrostatically charged pleated media captures large and some mid-size particles
• 300 MPR rating targets household dust, pollen and visible debris
• Pleated design increases surface area for longer service life
• Outperforms non-electrostatic fiberglass and basic washable filters

Will these filters fit my furnace or air conditioner?

These Filtrete filters are labeled 16x20x1 but their actual dimensions are 15.69" x 19.69" x 0.81", which fits systems specifying 16x20x1 nominal filters. They’re intended for standard residential furnaces, central air conditioners and HVAC return grilles that accept 1-inch pleated filters.

• Actual size: 15.69 x 19.69 x 0.81 inches
• Intended for housings requiring 1" nominal filters
• Compatible with most residential furnaces and central A/C units
• Six filters per pack allow rotation or use in multiple locations

How often should I replace the Filtrete MPR 300 filter?

Filtrete recommends changing this 1-inch pleated filter every 90 days under normal conditions. Frequency can be shorter if you have pets, smokers, high dust levels, or many occupants; use the Filtrete Smart App to set reminders at 30-, 60- or 90-day intervals.

• Standard recommendation: replace every 3 months
• Shorten interval when homes have pets, smokers, or heavy dust
• Six-pack lets you keep spares for scheduled changes
• Use app reminders to stay on a replacement schedule

Will this filter affect my HVAC performance or energy use?

When used and replaced as recommended, the filter helps reduce dirt buildup on HVAC components, which can support steady airflow and system efficiency. It’s a low-resistance 1" filter designed to balance particle capture with minimal strain on typical residential motors, but replacing it regularly prevents loading that could impede airflow.

• Pleated construction balances filtration and airflow
• Helps keep coils and blower areas cleaner between services
• Regular replacement reduces pressure drop caused by clogging
• Not intended as a high-MERV solution for specialized needs

Who is this for: Homeowners and renters with standard residential HVAC systems who want an affordable, easy-to-install 1-inch filter that cuts household dust and visible debris. This Filtrete MPR 300, MERV 5 6-pack suits families looking for routine air-cleaning performance, people with light allergy concerns, and anyone who prefers electrostatic pleated filters over basic fiberglass or washable options. If you need medical-grade filtration or capture of ultra-fine particles, consider higher-MPR/MERV alternatives.
