eufy Security Video Doorbell C31 2K FHD (Battery or Wired) — 4:3 View & Night-Optimized

The C31 blends high-resolution video, flexible power choices, and simple smart‑home compatibility so you can see who’s at your door with crisp detail and minimal ongoing cost. It supports both battery-powered and hardwired installations, offers real-time two-way interaction with visitors, and integrates with popular voice assistants and optional eufy base devices for expanded features.

How sharp is the video and what do I see at night?

The doorbell captures 2K FHD footage in a 4:3 aspect ratio, giving you a taller field of view to better frame faces and package areas. Low-light performance remains usable for after-dark monitoring, and motion-triggered clips include a short pre-roll when wired for continuous protection.

• 2K resolution for clearer facial detail and package recognition
• 4:3 view to include more vertical space at your threshold
• Night-optimized imaging to maintain visibility after dusk
• 5-second pre-roll available when hardwired for motion events

Can I talk to visitors and get alerts when I’m away?

Yes — incoming rings prompt a pop-up video call on your smartphone so you can answer live. When you’re not available, the system can send quick automated replies and allow visitors to leave voice messages so you don’t miss important deliveries or guests.

• Live two-way audio through your phone for real-time conversations
• Pop-up call notifications for immediate interaction
• Configurable quick responses and visitor voice messages when away
• Motion alerts sent directly to your device for timely awareness

Do I need to hardwire it, and what are the pros and cons?

The C31 can run on its removable 6,500mAh rechargeable battery for flexible installation without wiring, or you can hardwire it into existing doorbell lines for continuous operation. Hardwiring enables 24/7 recording and pre-roll clips, but it requires bypassing an existing mechanical chime and inserting the battery even when wired.

• Battery mode: quick-install, rechargeable 6,500mAh pack for cordless placement
• Wired mode: continuous power, 24/7 recording, and motion pre-roll
• Installation note: always cut circuit power when swapping the battery or installing storage
• Hardwiring requires chime bypass for correct operation

How does it work with other smart devices and storage?

The C31 connects with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice-controlled interactions and works with optional eufy HomeBase S380 or MiniBase Chime units to add local storage and chime features. Local recording avoids subscription fees, and extra eufy hardware unlocks continuous recording and enhanced alerts.

• Compatible with Alexa and Google voice assistants for hands-free use
• Supports eufy HomeBase S380 and MiniBase Chime for extended functionality
• No mandatory cloud subscription — local storage options available
• MicroSD slot supported (card not included) for onboard clips

Who is this for? The eufy Security Video Doorbell C31 is aimed at homeowners and renters who want high-resolution, cost‑effective video monitoring without recurring cloud fees. It’s a good pick if you need flexible installation (battery or wired), clear visitor two‑way communication, and the option to expand into a local storage smart‑home setup with eufy base devices.
