Estwing Sure Strike 12 oz Rubber Mallet — Red/Yellow Double-Face, Hickory Handle, Non-Marring

The Estwing Sure Strike 12 oz Double-Face Soft Hammer (DFH12) is a versatile, non-marring mallet with two head faces and a triple-wedge hickory handle built for durability and control.

Whether you're fitting dowels, assembling flat-pack furniture, working on trim, or shaping sheet metal, this 12-ounce Estwing mallet offers two different striking surfaces to match the task. One face provides softer blows to protect finished surfaces, while the other delivers firmer impacts when more force is needed. The tool combines a traditional curved hickory handle with modern manufacturing details for a balance of feel, toughness, and reliability.

How does the double-face head make tasks easier?

The two distinct faces let you switch between gentle and firmer impacts without changing tools. Use the soft face to avoid marring wood, tile, or upholstery, and the firmer face for seating parts or light shaping tasks.

• Soft face reduces surface damage on finished materials.
• Hard face delivers controlled force for assembly and shaping.
• Color-coded red and yellow heads help you identify faces quickly.

What makes the hickory handle and head attachment reliable?

Estwing pairs a curved, top-grade hickory handle with a triple-wedge fastening method that locks the head firmly in place. The handle's shape improves grip and leverage, while the wedge construction minimizes loosening under repeated use.

• 10.5-inch curved hickory handle for ergonomic control.
• Triple wedge construction secures the head to the handle.
• Lightweight feel reduces fatigue during extended projects.

Which jobs is this mallet best suited for?

This mallet is designed for a wide variety of trade and DIY tasks where non-marring strikes or controlled force are required. It's especially useful for furniture assembly, tile and flooring work, sheet metal shaping, and light automotive or upholstery jobs.

• Furniture assembly and dowel setting without denting surfaces.
• Tile setting, flooring installs, and trim work requiring soft taps.
• Sheet metal forming, light automotive work, and camping tasks.

Is this tool built in the USA and suitable for pros?

The DFH12 is assembled in the United States using both domestic and imported components, continuing Estwing's long manufacturing tradition. Built to meet demanding use, it is specified for framers, carpenters, roofers, contractors, tradespeople and serious DIYers who need a dependable mallet.

• Assembled in Rockford, IL with foreign and domestic parts.
