Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500 Wireless Color All-in-One Supertank Printer — 6‑Color, Borderless 8.5×11 Photos

The Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500 is a wireless, cartridge-free 6-color all-in-one Supertank printer designed to produce lab-quality color photos, graphics and everyday documents at a very low cost per print.

The ET-8500 pairs Epson’s Claria ET Premium six-ink system with refillable ink bottles to deliver vivid borderless photos up to 8.5" x 11", plus versatile media handling for cardstock, CDs/DVDs and thicker stock up to 1.3 mm. It replaces disposable cartridges with high-capacity ink bottles that cut replacement expenses dramatically while keeping studio-style color and sharp text for home studios, small businesses, crafters and hobby photographers.

How much can I expect to save on prints and ink?

The EcoTank design swaps costly cartridges for economical replacement bottles, producing a much lower cost per photo and per page. Epson’s yield calculations show savings of up to roughly 80% versus standard cartridges, though exact savings vary with what and how often you print.

• Replacement ink bottles provide high page yields and lower per-print costs.
• Estimated 4" x 6" photo cost is about four cents versus ~40 cents with cartridges (estimates vary).
• Fewer bottle replacements mean lower ongoing operating expense for frequent printers.
• Printed yield estimates are based on standardized patterns; real-world results depend on images and settings.

What paper sizes and media can the ET-8500 handle?

The ET-8500 supports borderless photos up to 8.5" x 11" and can print on a variety of specialty media, making it suitable for personalized gifts, marketing collateral and creative projects. It accepts heavier stocks and can print directly onto printable CDs/DVDs.

• Borderless 4" x 6", 5" x 7", and 8.5" x 11" photo printing.
• Cardstock and other media up to 1.3 mm thickness for invitations and craft projects.
• Direct-to-disc printing for customized CDs and DVDs.
• Support for envelopes, labels and a range of specialty photo papers.

How convenient is setup, mobile printing and daily use?

Setup is straightforward: fill the visible front-facing ink tanks, connect via Wi‑Fi or Wi‑Fi Direct, and use the 4.3-inch color touchscreen or Epson apps to print from phones and tablets. Cloud and wireless features enable printing from many devices, and the unit is designed for low-maintenance operation.

• 4.3" touchscreen for on-device control and easy navigation.
• Wi‑Fi, Wi‑Fi Direct and Epson Connect compatibility for remote printing.
• Refillable tanks reduce cartridge changes and lower service interruptions.
• Mobile app support for on-the-go photo and document printing.

How long do the ink bottles and supplies last?

Each full set of replacement bottles provides high yields intended to cover months of printing; Epson indicates multi-year coverage for typical household volumes, though actual bottle life depends on how often and what you print. All six ink colors are used in printing and maintenance, so maintaining all colors ensures consistent output.

• Replacement bottle yields are measured with industry-standard test patterns; real yields vary by content and settings.
• Epson cites up to two years of typical printing for average home volumes (results will differ by user).
• All colors contribute to print quality and maintenance cycles—keep bottles available for best operation.
• Using genuine Epson bottles helps preserve color accuracy and warranty coverage.
