ecobee SmartSensor 2-Pack Temperature & Occupancy Sensors — Wireless, 60 ft Range, Battery-Powered

The ecobee SmartSensor 2-Pack extends your smart thermostat’s reach by sensing room temperature and occupancy to prioritize comfort where you need it most.

These wireless sensors work with compatible ecobee smart thermostats to share real-time temperature and motion data from up to 60 feet away. Using built-in infrared motion detection and temperature measurement, each SmartSensor helps your thermostat make smarter, room-specific adjustments so commonly used rooms stay comfortable and energy isn’t wasted in empty spaces. Installation is tool-free and battery-powered, so you can place sensors on a shelf or mount them to a wall without rewiring.

How does a SmartSensor improve comfort in specific rooms?

SmartSensors feed temperature readings and occupancy status to your ecobee thermostat so it can prioritize the spaces you use. Instead of relying on a single thermostat location, the system balances settings across rooms you choose to prioritize.

• Detects room temperature and motion to inform thermostat decisions.
• Prioritizes a bedroom or living room for overnight or evening comfort.
• Operates through walls and floors with a wireless range up to 60 feet.
• Includes two sensors to cover multiple key rooms right away.

Will SmartSensor help reduce energy use when I’m not home?

Yes—by reporting when rooms are unoccupied, SmartSensors let your ecobee thermostat shift to more efficient settings automatically. That reduces heating and cooling in unused spaces while keeping climate control ready for when you return.

• Detects absence and signals the thermostat to resume energy-saving modes.
• Helps avoid unnecessary heating or cooling of empty rooms.
• Works with ecobee scheduling and home/away features for automated savings.
• Supports instant adjustments from the ecobee mobile app no matter where you are.

How do I install and maintain the SmartSensor?

Setup is designed to be straightforward: place the sensor on its stand or mount it, then pair it to your ecobee thermostat through the app. No wiring or professional installation is required, and the long-life CR2477 battery keeps maintenance to a minimum.

• Plug-and-play pairing via the ecobee app—no tools or wires needed.
• Includes a stand and mounting hardware for flexible placement options.
• CR2477 battery provides years of power before replacement is needed.
• Sensor range up to 60 feet supports multi-room layouts and multi-floor homes.

Does SmartSensor add security or alerts?

When combined with ecobee Smart Security, SmartSensor motion events can trigger alerts so you stay informed about unexpected activity. This adds situational awareness, though it’s an optional feature that requires an active security subscription.

• Optional motion alerts available with an ecobee Smart Security plan.
• Can notify you of unexpected movement while your system is armed.
• Provides an extra layer of awareness without replacing dedicated security devices.
• Works seamlessly alongside temperature and comfort features of the ecobee ecosystem.

Who is this for? The ecobee SmartSensor 2-Pack is aimed at homeowners and renters who want more consistent, room-by-room comfort and smarter energy use without complex installation. It’s ideal for families prioritizing bedroom comfort, people with multi-level homes, or anyone who wants to reduce temperature imbalances with two easy-to-place sensors. If you already own a compatible ecobee thermostat and want targeted comfort and better control over heating and cooling, this two-pack provides immediate benefits with minimal setup.
