DEWALT Atomic Compact 30 ft Tape Measure — 13 ft Standout, Integrated Finger Brake

DEWALT Atomic Compact 30 ft Tape Measure (DWHT38130S) is a compact, heavy-duty measuring tool with an integrated finger brake and a 13-foot standout for accurate one-person measuring.

Designed for tradespeople who need a balance of portability and performance, this Atomic Compact tape packs robust features into a smaller footprint. It pairs a space-saving housing with enhanced ergonomics, a durable blade finish, and clear fractional graphics so you can measure faster with fewer mistakes. The combination of a compact grip and blade control helps when working in tight areas or when you’re carrying several tools.

How does the compact design improve handling on tight jobs?

The reduced housing size offers a 20% more compact grip, making it easier to hold and manipulate the tape in confined spaces. That smaller profile reduces hand fatigue and improves leverage when pulling or retracting the blade.

• 20% smaller grip provides better ergonomics for one-handed use
• Low-profile housing fits into crowded tool belts and pockets
• Anti-slip textures help maintain control on ladders and scaffolding

What helps control the blade for faster, safer measuring?

This model features DEWALT’s first built-in finger brake, which gives immediate, fine control over the blade without fumbling for a separate lock. The brake allows you to stop and hold the blade exactly where you need it for quick marks and more accurate reads.

• Integrated finger brake for instant blade stopping and adjustment
• Solid retraction mechanics reduce blade whip and wear
• Durable coating extends blade life under heavy use

Can I rely on the blade’s readability and reach for solo work?

Yes — the tape offers clear fractional blade graphics that simplify reading and marking, while a 13-foot maximum standout gives you enough reach for most single-person measuring tasks. The graphics are printed to resist wear so measurements stay legible longer.

• Fractional blade markings for quick, precise measurements
• 13 ft standalone reach supports solo measuring tasks
• Protective blade coating preserves contrast and durability

How durable is the tape for jobsite conditions?

The Atomic Compact balances a compact shell with construction-grade components meant to handle everyday jobsite abuse. The blade’s protective finish and the reinforced case reduce the effects of drops, scratches, and frequent retraction.

• Coated blade resists rust, scuffs, and fading
• Impact-resistant housing stands up to drops and rough handling
• Secure belt clip keeps the tape accessible and protected when not in use
