DEWALT 21-Piece Titanium Nitride Pilot Point Drill Bit Set (DW1361) – 1/16"–1/2", No-Spin Shanks

DEWALT's 21-piece titanium-nitride pilot point drill bit set (DW1361) is a compact assortment of twist bits designed to start cleanly, resist wear, and stay secure in the chuck for everyday drilling in wood, metal, and plastic.

This kit gathers the most commonly used fractional sizes from 1/16" to 1/2" into a tough plastic case, with titanium nitride plating for improved surface hardness, pilot-point tips that reduce walking, and shank and web features that cut down on slippage and breakage. It’s built to be a reliable go-to set for tradespeople, DIYers and hobbyists who need consistent, ready-to-use bits for projects that demand clean holes and long bit life.

How do the pilot point tips improve hole starts?

The pilot point geometry creates an initial contact point that helps the bit bite immediately instead of wandering across the workpiece. That leads to neater entry holes and reduces the need for center punches in many applications.

• Precision pilot tip minimizes walking on sheet metal and hardwoods
• Smoother first contact for cleaner, centered holes
• Less setup time — fewer pilot holes or clamps required

What benefits does the titanium nitride coating provide?

The titanium nitride (TiN) finish increases surface hardness and lowers friction, which helps the bits resist dulling and slide through material with less heat build-up. The coating extends usable life compared with uncoated bits under similar conditions.

• Harder surface for improved wear resistance
• Reduced friction means cooler cutting and longer life
• Consistent finish across the set for predictable performance

Will these bits stay secure and resist breaking during use?

DEWALT designed the set with no-spin shanks to help prevent bit rotation inside the drill chuck and a tapered web to strengthen the bit near the tip area. Together these features reduce slipping and improve durability for common on-site and workshop tasks.

• No-spin shanks limit bit slipping under torque
• Tapered web reinforces the critical stress zone to lower breakage risk
• Suitable for hand drills and drill drivers at typical speeds

What sizes are included and how is the set organized?

The kit covers a practical range of fractional sizes for general-purpose drilling, stored in a molded plastic case that keeps each bit visible and secure. That organization helps you find the right size quickly and transport the set without losing pieces.

• Covers 1/16" up through 1/2" in commonly used increments
• Molded slots hold each bit in place for fast access
• Compact case fits into toolboxes and bags for jobsite mobility

Who is this for? This DEWALT DW1361 21-piece titanium nitride pilot point set is aimed at professional tradespeople and serious DIYers who want a durable, all-purpose fractional bit assortment. It’s a good match for carpenters, metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, and homeowners who perform frequent drilling and need bits that start accurately, resist wear, and stay organized in a portable case without frequent replacement.
