Desert Breeze Distributing Outback Gold Wool Wash 16 oz Original Scent — pH‑Neutral, Lanolin‑Enriched

Formulated by Desert Breeze Distributing and made in Idaho, this 16 oz bottle of Outback Gold offers a plant-based, low-foaming wash designed to treat delicate protein fibers—wool, cashmere, alpaca, mohair, angora, and silk—without the harsh alkalinity of regular detergents. It replaces the natural lanolin lost during washing, adds gentle conditioners like aloe and coconut oil, and carries a light original floral scent that dissipates as items dry. The formula is free of sulfates, phosphates, bleach, and formaldehyde, and is safe for septic systems.

How does Outback Gold protect delicate fibers during washing?

The wash is pH-neutral and fortified with lanolin to reduce the fiber damage caused by alkaline cleaners. That combination helps maintain fiber elasticity and surface integrity so knits and garments keep their shape and hand after repeated laundering.

• pH-neutral base minimizes protein-fiber swelling and damage
• Lanolin replenishes natural oils removed by washing
• Plant-derived surfactants clean gently without aggressive agitation
• Added conditioners (aloe, castor, coconut) preserve softness and drape

Can I use this wash in a machine, by hand, or for spot cleaning?

Yes—Outback Gold is versatile. Use a gentle or wool cycle in cold water with minimal agitation, hand wash in cool water, or apply directly for spot cleaning and blocking without rinsing.

• Machine: gentle/wool cycle, cold water, low spin
• Hand wash: soak briefly and press water through gently—no wringing
• Spot/No-rinse: concentrate applied to spots for targeted cleaning and knit blocking
• Safe for blends and natural plant fibers like cotton and bamboo

What’s in the formula and are there fragrance options?

The wash uses plant-derived anionic and nonionic surfactants plus natural conditioners and lanolin. The Original Scent includes a light floral fragrance and a touch of tea tree oil; Desert Breeze also offers a Fragrance Free version with the same conditioning base for scent-sensitive users.

• Key actives: lanolin, aloe vera gel, castor oil, coconut oil
• Surfactants: plant-derived anionic and nonionic agents (no sulfates)
• Preservatives and stabilizers: caprylyl glycol, phenoxyethanol, hexylene glycol
• Original Scent contains fragrance oil and tea tree oil; fragrance-free option available

Will Outback Gold work for large items like blankets and for specialty fibers?

Yes. Because it protects protein fibers and adds back lanolin, Outback Gold is suitable for sweaters, shawls, baby blankets, rugs, and sheepskin items. For heavy or oversized pieces, use a soak or professional wet-cleaning approach if home equipment is too small.

• Effective for garments, throws, and sheepskin care
• Use soak method for bulky items to ensure even coverage
• Gentle enough for silk and blended fabrics when used as directed
• Septic-safe formula for home laundering systems
