Command 20 lb XL Heavyweight Picture Hanging Strips — 20 Black Pairs, Damage-Free Heavy Duty Adhesive for Mirrors & Frames

Command 20 Lb XL Heavyweight Picture Hanging Strips let you hang large frames and decor securely without nails or wall damage.

These extra-large adhesive strips from Command are designed to hold heavy wall items while removing cleanly when you want to redecorate. Built for a variety of smooth indoor surfaces, the strips click together to lock frames level and keep artwork stable. With higher adhesive strength than the regular large size, this kit supports big pieces like mirrors, oversized photos, clocks, and heavier framed prints—yet they peel away without gouging paint or plaster when removed correctly.

How much weight can each set actually support?

Each pair of these XL strips is rated to hold up to 20 pounds when used as instructed. That rating assumes you use the strips in pairs and follow surface-prep and temperature guidelines for maximum bond strength.

• Rated holding capacity: up to 20 lb per pair.
• Use multiple pairs spaced along the frame for heavier or uneven loads.
• Best for heavy frames, mirrors, clocks, and gallery layouts.

Which surfaces will these strips stick to reliably?

Command XL strips are formulated for many smooth indoor surfaces—painted walls, painted cinderblock and concrete among them. They do not perform well on wallpaper, delicate painted finishes, or textured surfaces like stucco.

• Works: painted drywall, painted cinderblock, painted concrete.
• Not recommended: wallpaper, rough brick, acoustic or textured walls.
• Always clean with rubbing alcohol before application for best adhesion.

What is the correct way to apply and remove these hanging strips?

Proper application ensures the strongest hold and easy, damage-free removal. Clean the surface, apply at recommended temperature, allow paint to cure after fresh painting, and snap the strips together to lock the frame in place.

• Surface prep: wipe with rubbing alcohol to remove dust and oils.
• Temperature: apply between 50°F and 105°F (10°C–40°C).
• Removal: pull the tab straight down slowly toward the floor to release adhesive without damage.

Can I use these in a dorm, nursery, or rental without risking damage?

Yes—these strips are made for temporary, renter-friendly decorating across living spaces like dorms and nurseries. They allow you to arrange and rearrange art without leaving nail holes or sticky residue when removed properly, but avoid hanging valuable or irreplaceable items.

• Ideal for: dorm rooms, nurseries, rental apartments, gallery walls.
• Avoid: placing heavy valuables over beds or hanging irreplaceable antiques.
• Tip: wait seven days after painting before mounting strips to ensure paint cures.
