Casio FX-CG50 Color Graphing Calculator — full-color 3D plotting, Natural Textbook Display, MicroPython

The Casio Prizm FX-CG50 is a color graphing calculator that displays textbook-style expressions, plots full-color 2D and 3D graphs, and runs MicroPython for classroom and exam use.

The FX-CG50 combines a high-resolution, full-color LCD with a Natural Textbook Display to present math the way it's printed in textbooks, while adding three-dimensional graphing and on-device Python programming. Designed for secondary and college students, it supports a wide range of functions from basic arithmetic to advanced calculus, statistics, and geometry. It’s also approved for major standardized tests, giving students a portable, exam-ready tool that balances ease-of-use and powerful features.

How does the color and 3D graphing improve problem solving?

Color and three-dimensional graphing help distinguish multiple functions, visualize intersections, and explore surfaces from different angles. That makes it faster to interpret complex relationships and verify solutions visually during study or class demonstrations.

• High-resolution LCD with over 65,000 colors for clear differentiation between plots.
• Supports up to three simultaneous 3D functions like spheres, cylinders, and planes.
• Dynamic viewing controls let you rotate, zoom, and trace surfaces to inspect behavior.

What math and statistical features are included for coursework?

The FX-CG50 covers a broad curriculum range: arithmetic, algebra, calculus, trigonometry, complex numbers, statistics, and geometry tools. Functions for simultaneous equations, polar/rectangular conversions, and advanced statistical analyses make it suitable from pre-algebra through college-level work.

• Natural Textbook Display shows expressions exactly as printed in textbooks for fewer transcription errors.
• Built-in routines for simultaneous equations, regression, distributions, and hypothesis testing.
• Geometry and dynamic graphing features for visual proofs and transformation exploration.

Can I program or transfer custom routines on this calculator?

Yes — the FX-CG50 supports MicroPython so you can write and run programs directly on the device. Programs can also be transferred between the calculator and a computer for storage, sharing, or further development, making it a flexible learning platform.

• On-device MicroPython interpreter for creating custom scripts and utilities.
• USB connectivity to move programs and backups between PC and calculator.
• Improved catalog and file management for easy access to stored functions and programs.

Is the FX-CG50 allowed on standardized tests?

The FX-CG50 is approved for many major exams including AP, SAT, ACT, IB and PSAT, enabling students to use its features during testing where permitted. Always verify the current test administration policies prior to exam day, as allowed devices can change.

• Listed as permissible on AP, SAT I/II, PSAT, NMSQT, and ACT per Casio’s specifications.
• Exam-friendly layout and memory control make compliance easier for proctored environments.
• Battery and power design optimized for extended classroom and testing sessions.

Who is this for: The Casio Prizm FX-CG50 is aimed at high school and college students, math teachers, and anyone who needs reliable, exam-approved graphing capability in a handheld device. It suits learners who benefit from visualizing multivariable relationships, those who want to practice programming math tools with MicroPython, and students preparing for standardized tests that allow graphing calculators. If you need textbook-style display accuracy combined with full-color graphs and the option to write custom programs, the FX-CG50 offers a portable balance of usability and advanced features.
