How does Light Start differ from the regular Carnation Breakfast Essentials?

Light Start reduces total calories while maintaining a balance of protein and micronutrients similar to the standard formula. It’s formulated to be mixed with skim or fat-free milk so you can control calories and fat content without ditching convenience.

• Approximately one-third fewer calories than the original when prepared with fat-free milk.
• Delivers about 13 g of protein per 8 oz serving with skim milk.
• Includes a variety of vitamins and minerals typically found in the original product.
• Powder format for longer shelf life and customizable preparation.

How do I prepare this powder for a quick breakfast?

Preparation is straightforward: add the recommended scoop of powder to 8 ounces of chilled skim or fat-free milk and stir or shake until smooth. You can also blend it with fruit or ice for a thicker smoothie-style drink when you want more texture or flavor variety.

• Mix one scoop (per package instructions) with 8 oz of skim or fat-free milk.
• Stir vigorously or use a shaker bottle for a lump-free drink.
• Blend with fruit, ice, or yogurt for a meal-replacement smoothie.
• Adjust milk volume to change thickness and calorie content.

What nutrients are included, and what does each serving provide?

Each reconstituted serving supplies a blend of macronutrients and micronutrients intended to support daily nutrition needs: protein for satiety, carbohydrates for energy, and a mix of vitamins and minerals. Exact nutrient amounts vary by flavor and preparation, but the Light Start option focuses on a lower calorie count while preserving key vitamins and calcium.

• About 13 g of protein per 8 oz serving when mixed with skim milk.
• Reduced total calories compared to the original formulation.
• Includes vitamins and minerals such as vitamin D, calcium, and B-vitamins.
• Suitable as a light breakfast or quick mid-morning mini-meal.

Can I use this powder in recipes beyond a simple drink?

Yes—the powder is versatile. It mixes into smoothies, oatmeal, and baked goods to boost flavor and nutritive value without adding excessive calories when used in moderation.

• Blend into fruit smoothies to increase protein and vitamins.
• Stir into cooked oatmeal for a creamier texture and added nutrients.
• Incorporate into pancake or waffle batter for a breakfast boost.
