Canon PG-285 Black Ink Cartridge — Genuine for TR7820/TS7720/TS7722, 180-Page Yield, Crisp Text

If you own a Canon TR7820, TS7720, or TS7722, the PG-285 black cartridge is formulated to work seamlessly with your machine. Canon manufactures this ink to match the printer's printhead chemistry and FINE nozzle design, so pages come out with consistent density and minimal smearing. The cartridge is intended for everyday document printing and supports reliable performance when used alongside Canon color cartridges.

What print quality can I expect from the PG-285?

The PG-285 focuses on producing sharp, high-contrast black text suitable for letters, reports, invoices, and other documents where readability matters. With Canon's FINE nozzle technology, the cartridge helps create fine lines and consistent fill across characters. While it's optimized for text, it also yields acceptable gray-scale images when used alone.

• Crisp, dark black for text-heavy pages
• Fine-line accuracy from micro-nozzle printing
• Minimal smearing on standard papers
• Works with Canon CL-286 color cartridge for full-color outputs

How many pages will a single PG-285 cartridge print?

A new PG-285 black cartridge is rated for approximately 180 pages under ISO-standard test conditions. Actual page yield varies depending on content density, print settings, and paper type. Choosing draft mode or duplex printing can extend the number of pages you get from each cartridge.

• Typical yield: ~180 pages (ISO standard)
• Yield affected by font size, margins, and graphics
• Draft mode uses less ink per page
• High-resolution photo printing reduces page yield

Will this cartridge work in my Canon printer and how do I tell it's genuine?

The PG-285 is compatible with Canon TR7820, TS7720, and TS7722 models; it is designed to mount and communicate correctly with those printers. To ensure you have an authentic Canon cartridge, check for Canon branding on the box, secure packaging features, and manufacturer labels. Using genuine ink helps maintain manufacturer support and print consistency.

• Compatible models: TR7820, TS7720, TS7722
• Look for Canon logo and original seals on packaging
• Genuine ink supports firmware communication and quality control
• Non-genuine cartridges may cause errors or inconsistent output

How should I handle and store the PG-285 cartridge?

Store unopened cartridges in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve ink stability. Once installed, use the cartridge regularly or run a nozzle check and cleaning cycle to prevent clogging. Follow Canon’s disposal recommendations for empty cartridges or recycle through manufacturer programs when available.

• Store sealed cartridge at room temperature, out of sunlight
• Install promptly after opening to avoid drying out
• Run periodic nozzle checks if the printer sits idle
• Recycle empty cartridges via Canon or local programs

Who is this for? The Canon PG-285 black ink cartridge is ideal for home users, students, and small offices that prioritize clear, legible black text and dependable day-to-day printing.
