Blue Ridge Fish Hatchery Koi Fish Food 3/16" Pellets, 2 lb — 36% Protein Floating Growth Formula

Blue Ridge Koi Fish Food Growth Formula is a 36% protein, mixed-size 3/16" pellet feed designed to float, soften quickly, and support active warm-season growth and color in koi and goldfish.

This 2 lb bag from Blue Ridge Fish Hatchery blends large and mini 3/16" pellets in one formula so juveniles and adults can eat together. Formulated for pond temperatures above 65°F, it balances protein, brewer's yeast, vitamins, and minerals to promote healthy growth and more vivid natural coloration during the warm months. Pellets float for easy portion control and soften within minutes for gentle digestion.

How does this blend feed both juvenile and adult koi at the same time?

The bag mixes pellet sizes so smaller, young fish and larger, mature fish can feed from the same portion without separating meals. That reduces waste and simplifies feeding routines—no need for two bags or multiple feeds.

• Single formula containing both large and mini 3/16" pellets
• Suitable for mixed-age ponds to prevent size-based exclusion
• Reduces leftover food and overfeeding when used correctly

When and how often should I feed these pellets?

Feed based on water temperature: above 65°F feed one to three times daily, offering only what fish clear in about five minutes. Between 50–65°F reduce to once daily, and stop feeding below 50°F to match koi metabolism and maintain water quality.

• Feed portions fish clear within about five minutes
• Above 65°F: 1–3 feedings per day for growth
• 50–65°F: feed once daily; below 50°F: discontinue feeding

What nutrients are in this formula and how do they affect color and growth?

The Growth Formula delivers 36% protein plus brewer's yeast, vitamins, and minerals that together support cellular development and pigment expression during active seasons. While not a guarantee, many hobbyists report brighter, more defined colors after consistent feeding through the warm months.

• 36% protein tailored for warm-season growth
• Brewer's yeast and micronutrients support digestion and color
• Balanced vitamin and mineral mix for overall pond fish health

Do I need a different feed as water cools?

Yes. This Growth Formula is optimized for water above 65°F; as temperatures approach 50°F, switch to a cool-season feed like Blue Ridge Cool Water Wheat Formula for easier digestion. Changing feeds with the seasons helps fish process nutrients more efficiently.

• Use Growth Formula during active warm-season months
• Transition to Cool Water Wheat Formula near 50°F for winter care
• Seasonal feed changes match koi metabolic shifts and digestion

Who is this for? Blue Ridge Koi Fish Food Growth Formula is aimed at pond owners who want a single, convenient feed to support both juvenile and adult koi and goldfish during the warm season. It fits hobbyists and small-scale breeders who value mixed-size pellets, easy portion control from floating pellets, and a family-run hatchery’s decades of hands-on experience. If you keep a mixed-age pond and your water regularly stays above 65°F in summer, this 2 lb bag provides a practical, nutrient-focused option to encourage growth and enhance natural color.
