Break Open 10 real geodes to reveal sparkling crystal formations—an interactive STEM kit that turns geology into hands-on discovery for kids ages 8–12.

Blue Marble’s National Geographic Break Open 10 Premium Geodes delivers an exciting mix of science, surprise and tactile play. Each set contains ten naturally formed geodes, hand-selected for variety and sized roughly between ping-pong and tennis balls. The kit includes a full-color Learning Guide to explain how geodes form, suggested activities, and safety tips for cracking and examining specimens. This product is an Amazon exclusive developed by Blue Marble and made to spark curiosity about Earth science without complicated equipment.

What will children actually do with these geodes?

Kids use a small hammer or rock-splitting tool (not supplied) to carefully crack open each geode and expose the inner crystals. The activity combines manual dexterity with observation and recording—ideal for experiments or a geology-themed play session.

• Crack and reveal ten genuine geodes of varied sizes and crystal types
• Compare external rock texture to internal crystal structure
• Sketch or photograph findings for science reports or scrapbook displays

How does the Learning Guide support STEM learning?

The full-color Learning Guide walks kids through formation processes, mineral identification basics, and simple experiments to try at home or in class. It presents concepts clearly so young learners can connect hands-on discovery to scientific ideas without jargon.

• Visual diagrams explain geode formation and mineral layers
• Activity suggestions encourage hypothesis testing and observation
• Safety notes and handling tips promote responsible science practice

Are the geodes safe and natural for kids to handle?

These geodes are 100% natural specimens, not synthetic or painted. They arrive as raw rocks that can be split with common household tools; adult supervision is recommended for safe cracking and cleaning.

• Natural crystal interiors—no artificial coloring or coatings
• Sizes vary, roughly from ping-pong to tennis-ball scale for easy handling
• Adult supervision advised for hammering and splinter handling

What makes this set different from other rock kits?

Blue Marble’s collaboration with National Geographic emphasizes quality selection and educational value. The geodes are hand-picked for diversity of crystal forms, and the kit is packaged with a classroom-ready Learning Guide to encourage inquiry-based play.

• Hand-selected geodes to maximize variety and discovery moments
• National Geographic-branded educational content for trusted science context
