Ben's Permethrin Clothing & Gear Spray 24 fl oz — 0.5% Permethrin, Long‑Lasting Fabric Protection

Ben's Clothing and Gear Insect Repellent Spray is a 24 fl oz permethrin-based treatment that bonds to fabrics to protect clothing and gear from insects for weeks.

This spray converts jackets, tents, backpacks and other textiles into a protective layer against biting pests without applying repellent directly to skin. Formulated with 0.5% permethrin and packaged in an ergonomic pump bottle, the treatment is designed for even coverage and extended durability, maintaining effectiveness through multiple washes. Ben's develops and tests this formula in New Hampshire’s White Mountains to ensure rugged performance in outdoor conditions.

How do I apply Ben's to clothing and gear?

Application is straightforward: lay garments flat or hang them, then spray evenly from about 6–8 inches until the fabric is damp but not dripping. Allow treated items to dry fully before packing or wearing; once dry, the permethrin binds to fibers for lasting protection.

• Use the ergonomic pump for consistent coverage across seams and hems
• Treat tents, sleeping bags, and backpacks the same way as clothing
• Dry time typically depends on fabric and ventilation—air dry fully

How long does protection last on treated fabrics?

Ben's bonds to textile fibers and remains effective through several washings, with reliable protection lasting up to six weeks under typical use. Durability can vary with laundering frequency, water temperature, and abrasion, so reapply as needed for continued coverage.

• Effective through multiple washes—up to about six weeks of typical use
• High-friction areas may require more frequent reapplication
• Follow washing instructions and retreat items that see heavy use

What fabrics and gear are safe to treat with permethrin?

Permethrin at 0.5% is formulated to bond with most natural and synthetic fabrics commonly used in outdoor gear. Avoid treating items that contact food, infants’ sleepwear, or materials labeled as non-compatible; always check manufacturer care labels when in doubt.

• Recommended for jackets, pants, socks, tents, backpacks, and sleeping bags
• Not for direct skin application—treat fabrics and allow them to dry first
• Spot-test delicate or specialty fabrics before full application
