Back to the Roots 100% Organic Indoor Potting Mix — 12 Quart Value, Peat-Free with Yucca & Mycorrhizae

Back to the Roots 100% Organic Indoor Potting Mix is a peat-free, yucca-enriched potting soil designed to retain moisture and support healthy root growth for houseplants. This specialty indoor potting blend combines organic yucca extract with beneficial mycorrhizae and dolomitic limestone to create a balanced, ready-to-use medium for potted plants. Made in the USA and formulated without bark or compost, it aims to reduce pests like fungus gnats, improve water retention, and provide stable pH for steady nutrient availability.

How does this mix help my plants stay hydrated?

The formula includes yucca extract, a natural surfactant that helps water penetrate and distribute evenly through the soil instead of running off. That means fewer dry spots, more consistent moisture around roots, and less frequent watering for many common houseplants.

• Yucca extract improves water absorption and retention
• Uniform moisture helps reduce root stress
• Less frequent but more effective watering cycles

What makes this potting mix supportive of root development?

This blend contains root-boosting mycorrhizae—beneficial fungi that form partnerships with plant roots to enhance nutrient and water uptake. Combined with a balanced pH from dolomitic limestone, the mix creates favorable conditions for stronger roots and improved vigor.

• Mycorrhizae increase root surface area for nutrient access
• Dolomitic limestone helps stabilize pH for nutrient availability
• Loose, aerated texture encourages healthy root expansion

Is this potting mix pet- and indoor-friendly?

The formula is made without bark or compost, materials that often attract gnats, and it’s labeled safe for indoor use around people and pets when used as directed. Its clean, peat-free composition also reduces environmental impact compared with conventional peat-based mixes.

• No bark or compost lowers gnat and pest risk
• Peat-free choice cuts down on greenhouse impact
• Suitable for indoor containers, shelves, and decorative pots

How should I use this 12-quart value bag for best results?

Use the mix to repot root-bound houseplants, top-dress larger containers, or fill new planters. For repotting, gently loosen roots, place plant at the same depth, and fill with mix leaving about an inch of space below the rim for watering.

• Fill pots with clean mix, leaving room for watering
• Gently firm—do not compact—to preserve aeration
• Water thoroughly after planting to activate yucca benefits

This indoor potting mix is ideal for houseplant owners who want an easy, environmentally conscious medium that supports steady moisture and root health. It fits plant parents repotting multiple containers, condo gardeners who need a clean, low-pest option, and anyone preferring peat-free products made in the USA. Whether you care for foliage plants, herbs in container kitchens, or mixed indoor planters, this 12-quart value bag provides enough high-quality soil to refresh several pots while reducing watering hassle and encouraging stronger roots.
