attwood Telescoping Emergency Paddle 24"–54" High-Visibility Orange, Lightweight Aluminum Shaft

Attwood's telescoping emergency paddle collapses to 24" and extends to 54", offering a lightweight, floating backup paddle for boats, kayaks, and PWC.

This compact emergency paddle from Attwood is built to be stowed easily and deployed quickly when you need propulsion or an extra hand on the water. Constructed with a corrosion-resistant aluminum shaft and a high-impact plastic blade, the paddle balances durability with low weight and is finished in high-visibility orange so it’s easy to spot during low light or rough conditions.

How compact is this paddle for onboard storage?

The paddle collapses to approximately 24 inches, making it simple to tuck into a locker, under a seat, or inside a dry bag. Its lightweight design reduces bulk without sacrificing functional length when deployed.

• Collapsed length: about 24 inches for compact storage
• Extended length: up to 54 inches for increased reach and leverage
• Weighs roughly 1 lb 5 oz for easy stowage

Will it survive saltwater use and occasional drops?

Yes — the shaft is made from corrosion-resistant aluminum and the blade uses high-impact plastic to withstand marine conditions. The paddle is also designed to float if accidentally dropped, helping you recover it quickly.

• Corrosion-resistant aluminum shaft for salt or fresh water
• High-impact plastic blade resists cracking and wear
• Floating design reduces the risk of losing the paddle overboard

How effective is it for emergency propulsion or maneuvering?

When fully extended, the paddle provides extra leverage and reach useful for short bursts of propulsion, steering, or pushing away from hazards. It serves as a dependable backup when your primary means fail or when you need an extra hand in tight situations.

• Extended length gives better stroke power and reach
• Bright orange color increases visibility to others and rescuers
• Suitable for small boats, kayaks, jet skis, and river tubing

How easy is it to deploy and secure during use?

The telescoping sections lock quickly to a usable length, and the lightweight profile makes it easy to handle even in rough water. After use it collapses back down for fast re-stowing without extra tools.

• Simple extend-and-lock mechanism for rapid deployment
• Light weight reduces fatigue during short emergency paddling
• No tools required to collapse and store the paddle

Who this is for: Boaters, paddlers, and personal watercraft owners who value a compact, reliable backup paddle will find this Attwood telescoping paddle practical. It’s aimed at anyone who needs low-weight gear that resists saltwater corrosion, floats if dropped, and tucks away in limited storage space on small boats, kayaks, canoes, jet skis, or inflatable crafts.
