Aqara UWB Smart Lock U400 - Black Deadbolt with Hands-Free UWB Unlock, Fingerprint & Apple Home Key

The Aqara UWB Smart Lock U400 is a BHMA-certified smart deadbolt that offers true hands-free UWB unlocking plus fingerprint, touchscreen passcode, Apple Home Key, NFC card, app control and a rechargeable battery.

This U400 model combines Ultra-Wideband presence detection with Matter-over-Thread connectivity to support multiple smart home ecosystems while delivering weatherproof outdoor performance. Designed for modern doors, it gives you several convenient entry methods, a rechargeable power system, and integration options with Aqara cameras and Apple Home accessories for seamless access and monitoring.

How does UWB hands-free unlocking work with the U400?

UWB (Ultra-Wideband) uses precise spatial sensing to detect your incoming direction and unlock automatically when you approach, removing the need to touch the lock. It works best with compatible Apple devices and a Thread-enabled Apple Home hub for secure, fast proximity unlocking.

• Automatic unlock as you approach using UWB detection
• Requires Apple Watch Series 6+ (excluding SE) or iPhone 11+ and a Thread-enabled Apple hub
• Ideal when your hands are full, in bad weather, or wearing gloves

What other ways can I unlock the U400 if I don’t use UWB?

The U400 supports multiple fallback methods so you always have access. Choose fingerprint, touchscreen passcode, Apple Home Key tap-to-unlock, NFC card, voice assistant commands, mobile app remote control, or a traditional physical key.

• Fast fingerprint reader for one-touch entry
• Touchscreen numeric code and NFC card support (card sold separately)
• Apple Home Key and Matter over Thread for cross-ecosystem tap-to-unlock

Is the U400 reliable and weather resistant for exterior doors?

The U400 is engineered for outdoor durability and certified security, balancing weather resistance with mechanical strength. It holds BHMA certification and an IP65 exterior rating, suitable for standard residential exterior installations.

• BHMA-certified lock body for proven mechanical standards
• IP65-rated outer components protect against dust and water splashes
• Rekeyable cylinder lets you change keys without replacing the entire lock

How is the U400 powered and how long does the battery last?

Power comes from a removable, rechargeable lithium battery designed for everyday convenience. Recharge via the built-in USB-C port without uninstalling the lock, or charge the battery separately; a voice alert warns you at low battery levels.

• Removable rechargeable battery lasting up to six months per charge
• USB-C charging port for in-place recharging or external charging
• Low-battery voice alert at 20% to prevent unexpected lockouts

Who is this for? The Aqara UWB Smart Lock U400 is for homeowners and renters seeking a modern, multi-credential deadbolt that prioritizes hands-free convenience and ecosystem flexibility. It suits people invested in Apple or Matter-enabled smart homes who want reliable mechanical security, weatherproof outdoor performance, and a rechargeable power option—ideal for busy households, tech-forward users, and anyone who values multiple entry methods for family and guests.
